Rapper Professor Green has cancelled his appearance at YUSU’s Freshers Festival due to illness.

A statement released by YUSU noted that the London-born performed had come down with “the flu” and would no longer be performing his headline set.

To plug the hole left by the rapper’s no-show, YUSU drafted in Tris from The Vamps to perform a DJ set and Lotto Boyz who were put on the main stage having originally been on a different stage.

The Union’s statement said that while they “understand this is disappointing and hope to bring him to York in the future.

“We wish him a speedy recovery”.

In the wake of the announcement, Professor Green tweeted an apology to York, saying that he would be back soon.

He has since reiterated his enthusiasm to come back in a reply to York Vision‘s review of the Festival, saying he is now back to good health and that he’ll play for twice as long as he had planned.

Professor Green was announced as a headliner by University Radio York at the end of the September and was the star name in the lineup.
