This week we had the pleasure of tasting none other than Byron’s newest creation: the Jorvik Burger! For just £20.50, you can try this York exclusive artisanal burger, along with House Fries and the Brew York Coney IPA. As burger and beer lovers, this combo-meal was a deal we could not miss.
The restaurant is located in the city-centre on High Ousegate. With a rustic and homely interior, it’s the perfect spot to catch up with friends and enjoy some delicious and hearty food. Alternatively, you can opt for a cosy night-in and have their food delivered right to your doorstep on Deliveroo.
Byron is committed to working with locally sourced produce and celebrating Yorkshire’s culinary history. The Jorvik combo-meal has the flavours of Yorkshire right to its core: its ingredients come from Brew York and The Cheese Trader, which are both just a short walking distance from the restaurant’s door.
We began our evening by tasting Brew York’s Coney IPA. Citrussy, hazy and bursting with vibrant flavours, this IPA was a refreshing compliment to the hearty burger. Served in a chilled glass, it really was a heavenly beer!
We then went on to try the main event: the Jorvik Burger. The General Manager, David, was not lying when he said it was “a real artisan burger”. The beef patty is sourced from the prestigious butchers, Aldens, and was both flavourful and succulent. It was paired perfectly with a mature Yorkshire Red Cheddar and Coney IPA caramelized beer onions. The burger was topped off with crunchy shredded lettuce and a tangy mustard mayonnaise.
The whole burger was absolutely phenomenal, but what really stood out to us the most was Cryer and Stott’s Yorkshire Red Cheddar. Rich, creamy and strong, it elevated the burger to the next level. The fries too were cooked to perfection: both crisp on the outside and fluffy in the middle.
From friendly, attentive staff to outstanding food and drink, the combo-meal was nothing less than a meal fit for a viking: an all round five star experience. We highly recommend you give this great deal a try!
With thanks to Byron Burgers for making this review possible.
