Deep in the catacombs of the library – that’s to say, the ground floor,
There are two spaces you may not know, they’re called the compact stores.
Now what exactly are they? I ask thee not to dwell,
They’re a snazzy book storage system, hardbacks on a carousel.
You found that one on the database, that or YorSearch,
But as for the location, it left you in the lurch.
Try down here, it’s a good option if you need that extra journal.
Be careful though, 15 minutes in here and your search will be eternal.
Just on the left next to the laptops at the library’s entrance,
Watch for double doors, sooner than the end of this sentence.
In there you’ll find a world of books with an array of buttons on shelves,
Don’t get too excited yet: no need to work them out yourselves.
Find the journal you like, see the two screens in the nearest gap,
Call out to anyone else “ey up, gerrout”: forget; they could be trapped.
Press the arrow on your aisle’s screen and wait to see the floor,
After an hour of this – ah yes, what was I here for?
You spend ages trying to recall those four digits on the computer,
Oh no! – 45 minutes to read that article for your tutor!
You leg it – ‘Surely it’s on the VLE?’ – and as you reach the door…
Oh God! Of course it’s in the other bloody compact store!
