January exams will be going ahead as originally planned, YUSU’s Academic Officer has confirmed.

There will be no changes in exams for students over the January assessment period.

Vice-Chancellor Charlie Jeffery has confirmed there will be an “Assessment Support Package” for the 2020/21 student cohort, although this has no mention of altering exams already set for January.

The Assessment Support Package has provided aid in other areas however, it includes removing requirements for evidence for students applying for the Exceptional Circumstances affecting Assessment (ECA) policy, “adapting [their] approach” to producing online teaching and comparing overall performance of students from this year to ensure the pandemic has not been detrimental to their degrees.

The package also allows for a more generous opportunity to resit for first and for second years, and a re-weighting of this years marks to ensure badly affected grades will be limited in impact on students’ final grades.
