“£400-500” Worth Of Merch Stolen From Derwent JCR

The perpetrators are being given “one last chance to make amends”.

Derwent students have been alerted about a security breach involving stolen college merchandise.

In an email sent on Tuesday by Dr Andrew Kerrigan, assistant head of Derwent College, students were informed that an estimated £400-500 of merchandise had been stolen from the JCR Office.

According to Dr Kerrigan, this money is used for student led projects, including Big D, Derwent’s end of year celebration.

The email also outlined how this stolen merchandise was being advertised on a Derwent Confessions page, and was being sold out of P Block, which overlooks Derwent’s merch store.

Warning that both the University security and the police are now aware of the issue, students were offered “one last chance to make amends,” with a box being placed under the department of politics stairway outside the Derwent College administrator’s office in which the items can be returned.

For the merchandise already sold on, money could also be slid under the office door.

It is not currently known who the perpetrators are.

Dr Kerrigan has been contacted for a comment.
