York Vision raises £2000 in crowdfunder

York Vision has successfuly raised £2000 in a 3-week crowdfunding campaign.

Donations on the York-based website YuStart totalled £1677 and the final £300 was then pledged by one of Vision's founding members, Chris Nevell.

In the comments section of the crowdfunder Nevell said: "It will soon be 30 years since Mark Watts and I were recruiting our first members of the new York Student Vision newspaper society. We weren't sure there would be a first issue let alone a 30th year.

"While I'm providing a little of what you are seeking today, I'm also pledging to you the balance of the £2,000 not raised by the end of today – so well done – you've done it."

Other alumni left messages of support and shared their experiences.

Mathew Lodge said: "I was technical director and then photographic director for Vision in the early years, when we had no office and exactly one Mac we lugged around campus upon which Vision's tabloid glory was created."

Donations came from a wide variety of people as far-reaching as the editor of a newspaper in Nairobi.

We would like to thank all our amazing donors, a list of whom can be found here.
