York have officially lost out on a chance to retain the Carter-James Trophy this year, as Lancaster officially reclaimed the coveted sporting prize.

Lancaster won the women’s basketball just after 2pm this afternoon 62-27, which was enough to seal an overall victory across the weekend. It was a fittingly dominant display.

Roses 2014, held in Lancaster, saw the home teams battle it out over two weeks of sporting events to win the annual event.

After spending two and a half days in head to head sporting rivalry, Lancaster managed to pass the threshold of 163.5 to see them win back the title they lost last year. No away side has won Roses since York in 2008.
