Varsity Women’s Lacrosse: York 16-2 Hull

With half the women’s lacrosse team away at Durham the squad was divided. However York put out a strong side to face Hull on 22 acres.

A flood of goals poured in for York as soon as the game began.  With Katie Barrett and Sacha Greane showing off their impressive stick skills. The ball was driven into the back of  the net effortlessly and often straight off the draw.

Even with York showing clear dominance from the off there was no shortage of excitement. Large crowds had gathered on 22 to check out one of the first games of the day.

York continued to rack up the goals, with Charlotte Pelter and Miranda Otter Barry Ross adding their names to the score sheet.

Hull struggled to get the ball past the restraining line, due to some fantastic stick checks from the York girls.

Despite not having much to do, Captain Charlotte Winter’s presence was felt throughout, spurring her team on to no end, from goal.

The girls settled round the fan and with stick to stick passing, waited patiently for gaps to appear in the Hull defence.

With 10 minutes to go York had kept a clean sheet with the score at 15-0. They didn’t get complacent, however, and continued to press on.

After a lapse in defence, Hull slipped into the York net. However a late goal from Barrett pulled up the final score to 16-2 to York.

Total domination from UYLC and a thoroughly deserved Team of the Tournament!
