Taylor: Run for a YUSU position

YUSUYUSU President Kallum Taylor has urged students to run for a YUSU position in the upcoming elections.

Mr. Taylor said that those students with “even a slight temptation to run” should do so.

The YUSU president, who steps down from his role next summer, added that it would be a good year for students to run for his job following additions to Heslington East, a makeover for Heslington West and because of the looming General Election.

Speaking via his Facebook page, Mr. Taylor said: “I think any student with even a slight temptation to run, because they (in one way or another) care about students, their opportunities, their well being and their prospects at the University of York should seriously consider it.

“It would be a pretty good year to be a YUSU President for the 2014/15 year… Hes East keeps growing, Hes West’s facelift is just about starting to happen, and it’s a General Election year too.”

All positions for the University of York Students’ Union will be up for grabs from the start of next term.

Both undergraduates and postgraduates at the University can run for any of the full and part-time positions on offer but must get their nominations form in via the website between Monday Week 1 and Friday Week 4.

The Campaigns Officer position will not be featured in the running after students voted to axe it in a referendum in October.
