Student Paedophile Expelled

Disgraced History student Jonathan Wong has been expelled from the University following a recent child pornography conviction.

Wong, 23, a Goodricke international student from Singapore, pleaded guilty to 17 charges of child porn offences, including accusations of producing material himself. He was sentenced in the York Crown Court on Monday to six months in prison, suspended for two years.

A University spokesperson stated that Wong has been permanently expelled from the University on the basis of “gross misconduct”, a decision reached by the University Council after recommendations from Vice-Chancellor Brian Cantor. They also commented the University is strongly committed to child safety and deplores child pornography and abuse.

Earlier this term, Vision revealed that Wong was studying in York on a scholarship despite previous offences of a similar nature to his current conviction. He was publicly caned at age 15 for peeping in at girls’ toilets. However, he subsequently underwent treatment, and was thought to have been rehabilitated by the time he received his scholarship to study abroad in 2006.

Vision is now at liberty to report that his studies were being funded by a prestigious £90,000 pound grant from the Singaporean Ministry of Education. He was studying to become a teacher in his home country. When news of his offences reached the Singaporean media, the scholarship was promptly revoked.

Wong’s barrister Nick Worsley stated that upon returning to Singapore, his client is facing prospects of becoming a labourer while his parents sell their family home to pay back the grant.

  1. Student paedophile makes it sound like he was learning to become a paedophile. Like he’s a fully fledged paedophile’s apprentice.

  2. Possible bit of advice – just wondering whether Vision sought and obtained permission to use an image from the Press, and without crediting the photographer? If not, its use may be a violation of copyright, even though the source has been noted.
