School of PEP under threat

The future of the School of PEP is in doubt after the University announced a comprehensive review of the department.

The review will investigate the very existence of the School of PEP as an independent academic department at the University.

According to Christian Piller, the Director of PEP, the PEP Review Working Group will “consider the best institutional set-up for the running of the various PEP programmes”.

York’s School of PEP is the second largest PPE programme in the UK and attracts a high level of both domestic and international students.

The review is due to be completed in July and will be reported to the University’s planning committee.

Students as well as staff and administrators will be involved in the review’s consultation process.

Josh Salisbury, a third year PEP student, slammed the Review: “I think it's really worrying that the University is looking into whether the school of PEP should continue.

“One of the great things about PEP is that it encourages students and lecturers to work in interdisciplinary ways, and this might not carry on being the case if the school is discontinued.”

  1. Inefficient management, I’m sure.

Simple answer: integrate staff into Politics department, but brand it up as PEP.

    Job done.
