Reflex to close

It has been announced that York’s premier 80s club, Reflex is set to close. The news comes that it will be closing as Reflex and reopening under a different brand and will be known as Popworld. This club is not YUSU affiliated but students have claimed that it is one of their favourites in York, Isla V-T, a third year English student stated,

“I am really going to miss the revolving dance floor and I feel like this unique club may be sorely missed and could be changed drastically under a different name. This is my favourite club and I am not sure how Pop World will match up.”

Management at Reflex were unable to give a comment on the change at present but stated, “we are very excited about the change after a decade of Reflex, and want to generate enthusiasm but are currently unable to give any more information on the change.”

The Reflex and Pop World chains are both owned by Stonegate pub company, who also own Yates and the Slug and Lettuce.

Students hope that this rebranding will not affect the club, Jimmy Johnson, a third year Philosophy student told Vision, “A whole generation of York students now loses the opportunity to sidle up to someone on the revolving dance floor during Rick Astley’s ‘Never Gonna Give You Up’, give them the eyes and a cheap Jagerbomb, before sealing the deal with a trip to the Bucking Bronco.”

  1. Hopefully it’s closure will take with it the over-60s perverts that stand to one side slobbering at the teenage girls on the revolving dancefloor

  2. As a student of York, I’m afraid I resent the claim that the perverts are over 60s. I would have him / her know that despite being a youth of merely 20 years I can drool pervertedly at least as well as any pensioner! (Also, like many students I’ll miss Reflex and hope the new brand lives up to it.)

  3. What students see in these tacky pissholes is beyond me. It’s a pity that it’s re-opening. The sooner York looses places like this and willow and gets some real clubs the better.

  4. Basically right, I’m a University certified BNOC, always on the lash, always on the pull. Anyway, this place was a prime watering hole for the top quality totty and the new joint better be ship shape and up to standards otherwise this may be the end of civilisation as we know it. Obviously I’ll have no problems on the pull, but then again I’m the Boozehound. I’m just looking out for my subjects.
