For those of you who maybe haven’t heard of Canterbury, think a more upbeat Deaf Havana or Twin Atlantic without the Scottish accents. Either way, they are certainly an act to watch over the next few months as their increasing success crescendos to the release of a third album in January. Despite the fact that this type of rock is a quickly growing genre, with relatively new bands such as Don Broco coming to the top of their game as the market leans their way, Canterbury has found something new to offer its listeners.

The band consists of guitarist and vocalist Mike Sparks, bassist and vocalist Luke Prebble, guitarist James Pipe and drummer Scott Peters. Together they have created a unique stlye which blends upbeat melodies with meaningful lyrics without going over the top. A personal favourite has to be their 2010 single ‘Gloria’ which is well worth a listen and would give you an idea of what to expect this Monday 7th October when Canterbury come to Fibbers.

The band of four continue to work hard on their third album to date, and for the past few months have been tantalising fans with the staggered unveiling of the four songs featured on their new EP ‘Satellites’- including one of their most famous tracks ‘You Are The One’ and the titular track ‘Satellite’ which was only released last week, concluding the suspense as all four tracks have now been unveiled and they do not disappoint. The new single ‘Satellite’ is an explosive anthem and serves as a preview to the kind of energy fans can expect to see from the group at Fibbers- this is truly a gig not to be missed!
