McDonald’s in fresh branch bid

Mcdonalds

There are fresh fears for the future of Oki’s Kebab Van after McDonald’s launched a new attempt to open a drive-thru restaurant in York.

The burger chain has submitted an application to the City of York Council for a new Monks Cross Drive outlet.

If successful, the plans would end the existing McDonald’s at Monks Cross Shopping Park, which the chain’s agents Planware Limited claims is ‘not big enough’.

The restaurant is expected to employ almost all local labour on 65 part and full-time jobs.

An original application for the new restaurant was submitted earlier this year, but the chain ended up pulling out.

A decision on the new restaurant’s bid is expected next month.

Commenting on the chain’s bid, one student told Vision they were “not sure” about a new McDonald’s branch.

“I’m not sure what to MC of it. I’ll have to wait and KF-see,” they quipped.

“It sounds like it’ll be a real whopper of an addition. I want a pizza, even if it’ll have a dominos effect on the small, independent cafes in York.”

  1. What is the relevance of Oki’s to this?

  2. This is the worst article I’ve ever read, and I’ve read all of Tom AC’s editorials…

  3. This article is appalling, how did it get by subs? Oki’s has absolutely no relevance.

  4. Jack – don’t take mind altering substances before writing copy.

Total and utter incomprehensible gibberish the whole thing…

  5. This is gibberish. There is literally no connection to Oki’s, unless he is too busy frequenting the drive-thru to turn up every night

  6. This article is worse that the quality of food you receive from McDonalds. The title is so mis-leading, McDonalds are applying to open a drive through at Monks Cross, how would this have any effect on Oki’s which is wheeled out in the centre of town 3 miles away in the night to service the drunken yobs of York. Surely this story should have been about the 24 hour McDonalds near Bettys which is actually taking business away from Okis. Plus Okis is rubbish.
