Loussin Pilikian has been elected Halifax College President 2014.
Pilikian won the election unopposed with 117 votes. Her campaign which placed emphasis on advance advertising of College events, bridging the gap between domestic and international students, introducing a sports day and strengthening college spirit among Halifax students.
On her election and the new CSA Team Pilikian told Vision: “I’m really pleased with everyone who got their positions and I’m ready to take Halifax out of Heslington and give it a proper name on Hes West! Campaigning was good, but next year will be unforgettable!”
Other notable appointments included Ella Jarvest as Vice-President for Services with 83 votes, Jessica Smith who defeated Lindsay Bolton to be named Vice-President for Welfare by 29 votes and uncontested Rachael Wonnacott who was named Vice-President for Activities with 95 votes.
The most hotly contested position of the elections though was Ents Officer with five nominations. Georgina Pugh, Kieran Mullan and duo Mike Wallbank and Annie Sherratt were announced as the 3 Ents Officers after three rounds of counting that saw Prina Anand and Connor Stoner knocked out of the running.
Not all positions were contested however, with several high profile roles including Treasurer, Male Welfare officer and RAG officer left vacant.
