Lewis Ratto elected Alcuin Chair

alcuinLewis Ratto has been named the new Alcuin Chair for 2014 at tonight’s Alcuin Winter Ball.

Ratto, who seeks to change the current system of the JCRC by dividing the position of Vice-Chairperson for Entertainment and Communication into two roles and introducing the new role of Sponsorship Officer, will succeed outgoing Joshua Lee into the role.

Five candidates stood for the main role, and Ratto staved off the challenges of Bronwyn O’Neill, Harry Ashcroft, Peter Gaffney and Caitlin Bloor, as a total of 277 votes were cast for the role of Chair.

Meanwhile former Alcuin Sports Rep James Burroughs was announced as the new Vice-Chairperson for Entertainment and Communication, whilst Harriet Bilsby won the heavily contested role of Treasurer, fending off four other candidates.

A strong turnout in terms of candidates saw most positions contested, however there were no nominations for the integral roles of Vice-Chairperson for Welfare and Support and Secretary.
