Jubilee frivolity

London shoe designer Aruna Seth released her Jubilee tribute this morning in the form of a £3,000 pair of Swarovski-crystal studded wedges in the Union Jack colours – they’ll go on display at Harrods and a select few will be available to order. Seth was the perfect designer for this job; her shoes are regularly spotted on Princess Beatrice and Pippa Middleton, and she was a runner-up in the race to design sister Kate’s wedding heels, however I don’t think we’ll see Elizabeth sporting them this weekend. If you’re itching to get British this weekend and recreate Ollie Locke’s Made in Chelsea look, then arm yourself with £50 and look no further!

If you’re a Royal superfan then make a statement with a piece (or two) from Topshop’s floral Union Jack denim range; the pastel print jeans (£38) are super on-trend, and they come as a hot-pant and bra-let style – pair with a vest and some chunky boots for quick night-out chic. Judging from this week’s weather forecast you might also find yourself tempted to invest in a pair of Joules’ navy Union Jack print wellies. Nip into their shop or order online for 20% off before Monday!

If your budget’s a little over £50 and you’re looking to treat yourself with a little post-exam indulgence then check out grunge-glam brand Religion on ASOS, their ripped denim and sequinned styles will take you from Royal to Rock in seconds.

If you’re not totally sure about embracing the head-to-toe flag look then try accessorising with Mulberry, Vivienne Westwood and Alexander McQueen. Hey – I said TRY.. Next have cute pumps, Barbour’s tote is on sale and charm-giants Links and Pandora have both released limited edition jewellery for the big event.

Clockwise from top left: Vivienne Westwood Scarf £75, Next Pumps £28, Links Heart Charm £35, Mulberry Jubilee Pouch (selected retailers), Cath Kidston Union Jack Earrings £35, Barbour Tote £40 (ASOS promotion), ASOS glasses £9.50, Links of London Crown £45, Alexander McQueen Clutch £1,250, Pandora Bus Charm £40

Now you know what to wear, what to do? It doesn’t matter whether you’re watching it from Tower Bridge or your own living room, bake yourself a Victoria Sandwich (check out ‘Queenie’ cakes by London blogger Rose T), get yourself a bus-shaped biscuit tin from Marks and Spencers, bunting and a Jubilee Bowler from the Co-op and some Pimms…

Remember I said I had friends to help get you in the mood?

Can you really say no to these guys? (Left: M&S, £15.60!)

*(I know it’s a British Bulldog, but I like saying Pug!)
