FetSoc nominated for society of the year

YUSUsocsThe University of York Fetish Society has been nominated for Society of the Year at the 2013 YUSU Awards, which will take place on Friday 14th June.

Fetish groups generally practice BDSM (bondage, discipline and sadomasochism) in safe environments, with equipment such as whips, gimp suits and harnesses being used. However, most fetish groups are open to any sexual ‘kink’ a participant wants to try out.

The society, which was ratified only last year after a small struggle with the Union, appears to have succeeded in its aim of bringing the fetish scene to York, as it sits alongside Central Hall Musical Society, University of York Aerobics Society, Band Society, Maths Society and Comedy Society in the Society of the Year nominations.

Other award categories see Langwith JCRC, DramaSoc, MEG, York Sport Committee and Alcuin JCRC nominated for Committee of the Year whilst Emma Hersey, Emma Brownbill, Nick Hall, Becky Mursell, Louisa Moorhouse and an anonymous nightliner have been nominated for the Lifetime Achievement award.

  1. Backing MathsSoc this year, they’d be a great ADDITION to the award ceremony

  2. Yeah, I completely agree Ballbag, although the majority of the memebers of MathsSoc are quite hard to DIFFERENTIATE from one another

  3. this nomination for MathsSoc could EQUATE to more members next year?
