Easter Survival Series – Free Music

Musigh

Nearing it’s four year anniversary, Musigh is a constant source of musical pleasures. The work of an anonymous student from somewhere in America, it has become a little pocket of indie/electro/ambient gold. Although not quite notorious, the regularly updated website has gained enough traction to entice artists to donate tracks and haul themselves up from the overlooked corners of the internet. Its ‘Sunday Chilling’ post is always a nice way to round off a week.

Jamendo

Occupying a middle ground between the user uploaded, content heavy Bandcamp and the discerning blogger, Jamendo provides enough music to satiate users whilst keeping it’s offerings at a premium. Whether the result of some invisible fanatical backing or the handiwork of incredible negotiators, its downloadable exclusives, exclusives that include ProleteR and Capashan, are nearly always spot on.

Djbooth

Essentially the hip-hop version of Jamendo, Djbooth acts as a massive stream and download resource covering a huge spectrum of alternative, culturally specific music.  The website offers everything from big name, special edition releases to well written commentaries on the happenings slightly below the surface.

Spinforth

1/3 of The Hong Kong Ping Pong Club, Spinforth is a self styled musical scourer who avidly sifts through the aural dregs so you don’t have to. Consistently pitch perfect in his break heavy taste, Spinforth has become a reliable outlet for funk and has recently released 100 free and legal mixes to celebrate the 100th bi-weekly ‘Scour’.
