Craddock’s Classic: Bomberman 64 (N64)

By Chris Craddock

Terror has befallen Planet Bomber! The evil Altair is using the Omni Cube to drain the energy from your explosive wielding planet. Only you and the help of a mysterious stranger can defeat this villainous swine and allow your planet to continue its peaceful and combustible existence. Are you ready to take on some of the most pixelated foes know to the N64? You only have your wit and a never ending supply of bombs to over come some of the most bizarre enemies that you can possibly imagine. They range from a giant angry tea pot thing that looms out of larva to some flying sun glasses.

This game is as completely insane as the picture I painted and that is its appeal. The utter lunacy of this game had me wasting a lot of my childhood sitting in front of the television. By the time I’d finished primary school my thumbs could crush walnuts, but my legs couldn’t support my own body weight. Together with Bomberman I battled through the endless enemies, destroyed their bases and eventually over came their psychopathic attack. However, what truly won me over and turned this charmingly nutty game into a valued Craddock’s Classic was the madness offered by the multi-player.

This four player battle mode is something that has to be experienced rather than explained. All I can say between crippling fits of laughter and absolute confusion, you will reach a level of enjoyment that only can be attained by throwing a bomb at your friend which is about six times your characters size. All in all this game is da bomb!
