Channel 4 host to headline Comedy Night

yusuThe host of Channel 4’s Stand Up For The Week will headline the University’s second Comedy Night of the academic year, YUSU President Kallum Taylor has announced.

Comedian Paul Chowdry, who has also appeared on 8 out of 10 Cats, the Comedy World Cup and Live At the Apollo, will star at the January 17 event, that will take place at the Roger Kirk Centre on the main Heslington West campus.

He will be joined by former Mock the Week panelist Romesh Ranganathan who will host the comedy event, and by supporting star Henry Paker, who previously appeared on Russell Howard’s Good News.

Announcing the line-up via social media, Taylor said: “We hope you’re as excited as we are!”

Tickets to the event will cost £7 and if purchased before the start of next term, also come with a free drink on arrival.

The Union’s previous Comedy Night in October was headlined by TV comic Seann Walsh, and was supported by English writer Sara Pascoe.

The Central Hall event, which was also hosted by Romesh Ranganthan, sold out more than any other Comedy Night during Freshers’ Week.

Plans for a second night of comedy were revealed by the Union in November.
