Apple introduces iOS 7.1

Yesterday, iOS 7 capable devices received an upgrade which fixed several performance issues and introduced CarPlay.

The new update will allow users to press and hold the home button for the duration of their questions to Siri, eliminating the time the software took to understand the user was finished talking. The new update will also feature a new calender ‘month view’ and general interface improvement and bug fixes.

Apple also claim to have improved performance issues on all devices, with the iPhone 4 receiving special attention in this regard.

CarPlay, a new feature that allows users to connect their iPhones (5 and later) to their car, using an interface similar to Apple’s mobile operating system, is another new aspect to the upgrade. CarPlay will feature iTunes radio, messages, the user’s iTunes library and Apple maps; all controllable with Apple’s voice recognition software, Siri. Users will find that Siri will read out messages and text to keep drivers’ attention on the road and away from the smart screen.
