Vigil Announced for Harvey Parker

The University has announced a Vigil to be held in the memory of York student Harvey Parker

The University of York have announced a vigil for deceased student Harvey Parker, open for all students and staff to attend.

The student-led vigil is to pay tribute to the second year Music student, and will be held on Thursday February 10, from 8pm at Greg’s Place.

Parker, 20, was reported missing after leaving a London nightclub in December. In early January, the Metropolitan Police were alerted to reports of a body, which was subsequently identified as Parker.

Family and friends of Harvey set up a fundraiser in his memory, which has currently raised over £77,000 for “young queer support groups, neurodiverse and gender-diverse young people who would benefit from emotional or mental health support, and help support talented musicians from under-represented communities”.

Any student experiencing psychological or mental health difficulties does not have to struggle alone. Support is available through the University at https://www.york.ac.uk/students/health/help/.
