Located on Fairfax Corner, with views of cherry blossoms and the city walls, Shutishuti Patisserie is one of the finest additions to the York food scene. Having only opened at the end of April, the steady stream of hungry visitors is a true testament to this.

The drinks menu is extensive, featuring coffee sourced from Harmony Coffee, a York-based roaster, as well trendy matcha and a variety of oolongs. I can confirm the tangerine oolong is delicious.

Both savoury and sweet bakes are displayed on the counter in all their mouthwatering glory. The range and finesse is astounding considering the tiny kitchen space everything is baked in. Seasonal and local produce is at the forefront, exemplified by the cherry blossom cake: exquisite with a delicate flavour and airy almond sponge. The frosting has a hint of white chocolate and balances perfectly with the cherry filling. My friend had the honey cake and was immediately besotted.

Shutishuti Patisserie is currently open Thursday, Friday and Saturday, 10am to 4pm. With a welcoming atmosphere, it’s a lovely place to enjoy your treats, inside or outside, being located on a quiet residential street. Eszter’s award-winning bakes are also available at Food Circle York Market, Tang Hall Community Centre and at Pig and Pastry on Bishopthorpe Road.

A foray beyond the high streets of York is well worth it for the delicious treats at Shutishuti Patisserie. Be sure to add it to your York bucket list and give them a follow on Instagram.
