By: Nick Clegg (Leader of the Liberal Democrat Party)
My experience of meeting young people during this campaign is that they are angry – that after endless promises from politicians their chances in life are still decided more by their parents’ bank balance than by their own hopes and dreams.
I feel angry too. I’m also furious that the banks have ridden roughshod over our economy, and are still handing out huge bonuses; and that, despite all the political rhetoric, our climate is in danger.
Why are these failures unchecked? Because our political system is designed to block change, and that is why we are determined to overhaul Westminster and Whitehall too. This election is a chance to turn the page on the old mistakes, so that Britain emerges from the recession fairer, greener and more united, with a political system capable of working for the long-term – in finance, the environment and in education.
It’s time for young people to demand answers. Which party will scrap unfair university tuition fees for all students taking their first degrees? Which will tackle climate change effectively? And scrap ID cards? And defend human rights? Which party will create jobs and opportunities?
This election is a chance for change. It’s time to turn anger into hope. Use your vote and make it happen.

#NickCleggsfault :)
I love Clegg as much (if not potentially more) than the next man, but I was under the impression, and please correct me if I have this wrong, that the Liberal Democrats had been forced to scrap their plans to abolish tuition fees? Should we be reading ‘unfair’ as the operative word here? i.e. some fees would be scrapped but not all, and not universally?
I saw an interview with him about 3 days ago. He said that the plan was a gradual scrapping of tuition fees. So, if you are in your final year (ala, you et moi!) you get your tuition fees back. Then next year, its everyone who’s in the 2nd or 3rd year, and so and so forth, spreading to more and more people. But importantly (apparently) you and me could benefit this year. Which is awesome!
EXCLUSIVE Comment Piece?
WRITTEN by Nick Clegg?
Bollocks Vision, this is a selection of sentences pulled from the Lib Dem manifesto! Google any of them and you’ll see!
Or maybe the Lib Dem manifesto was pulled from Nick Cleggs comment piece for Vision?
What a load of nonsense. Not only is this dry and an exact reflection of the manifesto, but Vision have labelled it exclusive! What did you do, email the Lib Dem Press Office and got this stock response?
Cudos to Vision to get this in the middle of an election campaign! I had a look and it doesn’t seem to be a copy/paste job, instead its a nice little piece made by Nick Clegg – amazing! How did Vision get this anyway?
It’s not exactly groundbreaking stuff, but it seems a little unfair to complain that this sounds exactly like his manifesto – it’s not like he’s going to go crazy and write random little haikus about how he sees the world – it’s election time and any article he’s going to write will basically just be a reinforcement of his manifesto anyway.
