Sport President Puts Foot(ball) in Mouth

Controversy surrounds the university of York Men’s Football Club (UYAFC) after their own President remarked that there was a “remarkable lack of intelligence within this club.”

The comments come after recent allegations of electioneering by the Football Club after a member of the club used the mass email account to send out a message in support of Sam Ashfahani’s campaign to became YorkSport President, which is against YUSU election rules banning mass emailing for campaigning purposes.

In response, Ashfahani said that he “completely disagreed” with the email being sent out and would “ask the football team to send out an email listing Rob Newton’s policies.”

When questioned by Vision about the emails Greg Gardner (the President of the Football Club) confirmed that the email had been sent out by “a slow, dopey and ignorant member of the club”, but it had nothing to do with the club as a whole. He also stated that he had immediately contacted the Returning Officer and Emily Scott (the current YorkSport President) to inform them of the situation and to seek advice on the matter.

However, Gardner also went on to say that the email didn’t matter anyway as “what with the apathy and remarkable lack of intelligence within this club, I doubt anyone will have understood the message, let alone allow it to sway them which way to vote!”

Wow, that’s a long sentence. Might help to use a full stop now and again…
