For someone who knows incredibly little regarding how trampolining is scored, this was an incredibly difficult watch, with Lancaster absolutely dominating the scoreboard. With a final score of 270 for Lancaster, compared to an incredibly disappointing 70 for York, Lancaster took another win on day two of the Roses.

Trampolining is scored based largely on a combination of four main components, made up of execution, difficulty, time of flight, and horizontal displacement.

Sophie, from York, was the first competitor of the day, with an absolutely incredible routine. With a lot of height throughout, along with good form, and her routine involving a double somersault, she had one of the more difficult routines which we saw on the day. This was quickly followed by Charlotte from Lancaster, who had an equally impressive routine, with equally incredible form.

However, it’s important to note how difficult it was to know what the score was! Standing in the viewing area or the viewing platform were both incredibly useless in knowing numerical values.

Nonetheless, incredible routines from both red and white continued, however, Lancaster’s contestants were simply stronger. York lost a number of points through lower numbers of moves (hence being under a recommended number), along with a number of other aspects, simply putting Lancaster in the lead.

Despite amazing routines, it was another disappointing loss for York in trampolining overall, in terms of scores. However, contestants from York certainly did win medals!

For NEUT 6, Abigail from York won 3rd place, whilst Lancastrians secured 1st and 2nd. Unfortunately, NEUT 5 saw no success for York, with Lancaster securing all 60 available points for Lancaster. However, Sasha from York won 3rd place, securing a win in NEUT 4 for York. Nonetheless, again, Lancastrians secured 1st and 2nd. Swiftly following, NEUT 3 secured the first two 1st and 2nd victories from York, by Keira and Lily, winning them a total of 50 points altogether. Richard secured another medal for NEUT 1, securing 3rd place for York. The final two categories, Elite and Uber, saw 2nd place for York in both categories.

Despite the wins for York, Lancaster dominated the top victories, hence securing a large number of points, explaining the victory. There was incredible performance from both York and Lancaster, but unfortunately, a defeat for York, as Lancaster took the lead with more points.

However, many Lancastrians agree that the leotards from York were incredibly beautiful, and were passing their compliments (and vice versa) so a shout-out to the fashion choices from both teams!
