Squash is a sport that is defined by its aggressive, fast paced nature.

Starting off, York’s Percy Godfried faced off against Lancaster’s Matthew Cooper, and almost immediately, Lancaster won the first round 11-4. This was immediately followed off with the second round, which yet again Lancaster one 11-6. This streak was ended by Percy managing to sneak in a win in the third round, winning 11-5. However, at this point, exhaustion was starting to take hold, and York simply could not keep going, with Lancaster winning the game-winning round at 11-2.

The second face-off consisted of much of the same, with York’s Ollie Serkis facing off against Lancaster’s Jacob Bradds. Lancaster yet again managed to get a win in the first round, winning 11-3. This was followed by the second round, which yet again, Lancaster won 11-3. This was followed by the third round, and Lancaster by this point in typical fashion won 11-5.

At this point it really wasn’t looking good for York, however, hope still existed with York’s Tom Hetherington going against Lancaster’s Alex Phillips. Immediately Lancaster took the lead by winning the first round 11-2, this was quickly followed by the second round with Lancaster winning again 11-6. The third round went poorly for York, with Lancaster having won yet again, this time 11-2.

Hope started to dwindle for York, with only the love for the game keeping York’s players going. The match consisted of York’s Thomas Mukasa going against Lancaster’s Callum Egan. The first round ended with another Lancaster win, having won 11-3. This was followed by the second and third rounds which, in true typical fashion, were Lancaster wins.

The last game was Michael Hillary being the last fighting player from York. The game seemed to be going well, with the first two rounds being York wins. However, this quickly turned around with Lancaster winning in the next three rounds, bringing the Squash game(s) to a close, with Lancaster winning 5-0. It was brutal and a tough watch.
