North Yorkshire Police are investigating the theft of three laptops from the JB Morrell Library.
Following the incident, which took place at 5.30 pm on September 30th, the police have released CCTV images of two people they wish to speak to.
The force stated that: “Two suspects entered the University and removed several bags which contained ID cards belonging to the students.”
The ID cards were then used to steal three laptops, two belonging to students and one from a library loans locker. Each one worth approximately £700.
A University spokesperson told York Vision: “We want our students to feel confident in keeping their possessions safe and encourage everyone to keep valuable items, like laptops, phones and ID cards, with them at all times.
“We also recommend buddying up with friends to look after belongings while studying on campus or using one of the library’s lockers.”
Students and staff who witness any suspicious activity while studying should report it to the library staff.
