Well thats its for us tonight. Vision are signing off to hit the bar. Or the cans of strongbow. Final scores for the day: York- 15.5 Lancaster- 60.5
Not the greatest day for York. Perhaps we’ll have better luck tomorrow!
22.55
Unfortunately the home advantage proved to much for York and Lancaster have taken the latest darts game. The next game is a dead rubber. Lancaster take the points, Vision are gutted.
22.42
Amazing! York have just won the last darts game. Its 4-3. We’re still in it but we need to win our next two games. It think we can do it though!
22.16
Lancaster have won another match so now its 4-2 to them. York need to win all their 3 remaining games to win the tie. This is a seriously long darts match!
22.01
Lancaster have won the 2nd leg of the match. They are now 3-2 up in the darts. Come on York… channel ‘The Power’!
21.58
Back to sporting news… Lancaster have won the 1st leg of the 5th Men’s Darts match.
21.57
Paddy Harte, Vision Editor, has just spent half an hour running round campus looking for the Vision HQ. Apparently ‘everything looks different in the dark!’
21.54
…and now a little bit of K’naan’s ‘Wavin’ Flag’. Its the best World Cup song going!
21.52
The Vision HQ is starting to get a little bit rowdy. Rihanna has jumped on the ol’ spotify and the strongbow is disappearing at an alarming rate.
21.47
Men’s pool has finished 6-3 to Lancaster. Matt Robson, Snooker Captain, tells Vision that he is confident for tomorrow despite the loss of so many players.
21.43
At the place where it is all happening, Lancaster have just won the forth game making it 2 -2 overall. People are beginning to fall off their chairs!
21.40
In more important news, Lancaster have won the first leg of the worth game.
21.40
Two vision members have gone in search of a lost reporter … but they have got survival rations of one can of fosters for the poor soul. Hopefully he will be rescued soon.
21.37
Apparently the men’s lancaster players is called “Socrates”. Who else has envisaged the great man as a darts wizard, accompanied with a guinness in tow.
21.33
Seems as though one vision reporter has had a few to many, and is spilling drinks over the locals! Come on boys, lets keep it civil at least until tomorrow!
21.30
Well well, Adam “Tons of fun” Samuel has just won the third game making it 2 -1 to York in the men’s darts!
21.26
Banter is rife in the vision office. I think that the effects of a crate and half of spar’s finest and the mammoth efforts trying to get the internet up are beginning to take their toll
21.17
Lancaster pull the mens darts back to 1-1. York could really do with the points here.
21.14
Finally, at ten past nine we have finally wrangled the Lancaster wireless into working with all the vision laptops! Massive credit to Danny “Yorkshire is a state of mind” Gilks and Jay “you can get on this if you want” Conway for there I.T. perseverance.
21.07
York take an early lead in the men’s darts, winning the first match in straight sets
21.06
Men’s darts has just started. York’s first player was introduced to Johnny Cash and Lancaster’s to 50 cent. A clash of philosophies? The announcer is very pumped, very drunk and swearing freely
21.04
Back at the Barker House Farm and York have lost the mens pool. After winning the fifth frame the lost the sixth to put the 9 game tie out of reach at 5-1
20.32
Lancs are 4-0 up in the mens pool but York are 1 frame up in fifth match. We need this one to keep us in the hunt!
20.23
The score at the darts is now 6-2 to Lancs. After winning the first two, York have lost 6 games in a row.
20.07
York lose the indoor frisbee to match the loss in the outdoor frisbee earlier, handing Lancs another 2 points. This takes the scores to Lancs 42.5-15.5 York overall at the moment.
19.58
Final scores for the swimming event, for the men, Lancaster 64 -48 York and, for the women, Lancaster 76-34 York. A spirited performance form York but the 8 points all head in Lancaster’s direction.
19.45
Our intrepid reporters have stopped for burgers and chips. Darts coverage will resume shortly!
19.27
York have lost their second game, but it is alright folks there is still a long time to go, its out of nine!
19.23
They are starting the sixth women’s darts game. I am definitely going to be here for a while!
19.22
Quotes just in from Mungo Pay, York Pool and Snooker Club President: ‘ We’re very optimistic for the rest of the matches despite having a heavily weakened side. We have been the best pool cup team in the country!’
We’ve lost 5 of our top pool players and 7 of our top snooker player to exams. Massive disappointment!
19.15
Lancaster have won the fifth and final women’s darts match. That 3-2 to Lancaster then. Oh dear…
19.12
I spoke too soon, as I wrote that post the news came in that Lancs women have won the first leg of the 5th darts match. On a happy note one of our reporter is very much enjoying the party atmosphere is the Barker House Farm!
19.07
Lancaster have won the fourth woman’s dart match. Come on York!
19.05
The fish and chips have arrived, the beers are being cracked open and the sporting prowess being shown by York’s competitors in Lancaster today is being comfortably offset by the Vision team’s diet!
18.58
Swimming scores at the halfway break are, in the mens, Lancs 37-39 York, and in the womens, Lancs 44-20 York. Despite losing 14 consecutive races, York have been getting plenty of second and third places in each of the 4 way races, so they aren’t too far behind. It’s getting tense!
18.53
Lancs take the first leg of the fourth darts match and its looking like this is going to be a long one!
18.50
Now for the start of the fourth Women’s darts match. Eye of the Tiger is playing as the players make their entrance. The crowd is approaching a very pleasant level of drunk!
18.46
York Women are one’s a piece with Lancs after 2 out of 9 pool games. York’s own Hannah Roberts approaching the table…
18.44
York’s fortunes have taken yet another turn for the worse, Lancaster’s women have won the third match. The announcer bloody loved it and led the crowd in a traditional Lancaster chant. Sickening.
18.40
The Vision photographer, Danny ‘Yorkshire is a state of mind’ Gilks is demanding I add more photos to the blog…
18.38
After hearing that our two reporters at the darts have just bought in the first pints of the tournament I’m starting to wish I wasn’t stuck behind the keyboard…
18.34
Hang on! York Women have won their second darts match so maybe there is still hope. Roses is keeping me on the edge of my seat.
18.32
Lancaster have come first in the last 8 swimming races. Its not looking good for York to retain the Carter-James Trophy…
18.26
York win first darts match in the women’s competition and take the first leg of the second match. It’s looking good down in the pub!
18.25
Still no victories for the York ladies in the swimming, come on girls!
18.22
The races are back on at the pool. Our girl seems to be OK and is being treated now.
18.22
Second leg in the darts also goes to York! The support is fantastic and York are doing us proud. The announcer however, has a different opinion and has asked the York fans to calm down…. not likely!!
18.20
Second leg in the darts also goes to York! The support is fantastic and York are doing us proud. The announcer however, has a different opinion and has asked the York fans to calm down…. not likely!!
18.12
At the darts, the players are being introduced with flashing lights and a theme tune. The atmosphere is incredible and to top it all, the York ladies have taken the first leg!
18.11
EVEN MORE DRAMA!! Everyone has been evacuated from the swimming pool! The asthma attack was causing the swimmer, who is actually a York athlete and not Lancs, to be dragged under the water. An ambulance has been called and has just arrived on campus!
18.01
Number 6 for Lancs is having an attack in the swimming pool! She needs her inhaler and there are lifeguards galore. It’s a shame that that’s the best thing for white rose fans to watch at the moment
17.57
Lancaster have won every single race so far in the swimming. It’s not looking good for York at the pool.
17.46
Lancaster are getting hammered in the badminton, is the comeback on!
17.44
Lancaster are getting battered in the Badminton, 5-0 to York so far. Is the comeback on?
17.43
Final scores for the judo:
York win the men’s Under 81kg and the women’s Over 57kg. Lancaster won the men’s under 73kg outright and won the others through York having to forfeit the others.
17.38
Despite winning two of the three weight categories, York’s forfeit in the other two means lancaster win 3-2 overall. What a shame!
17.32
Loving the ref’s random japanese phrases. The girls match has by far been the most violent up till now.
17.30
The referee for the judo looks like the fat controller out of Thomas the tank engine!
17.28
The referee in the judo looks like the fat controller out of Thomas the tank engine!
17.27
Disaster for judo! Only three of our five competitors have turned up meaning that York has to forfeit two of the five competitions. The schedule hasn’t been kind to York…
17.25
Disaster at the Judo, only three of our five competitors have turned up so York have to forfeit two of the five competitions. The scheduling hasn’t been kind to us…
17.20
Judo is about to start. In the words of PJ and Duncan: ‘lets get ready to rumble’!
17.07
Just in from the Badminton… the ‘big man from Lancaster’ just made a cracking shot. A somewhat vague update but such is the excitement of Roses: we’ve no time for names, only points!
17.03
Apparently York are two matches ahead in the Badminton. Or so my reporter tells me. Apparently its all happening so fast he isn’t exactly sure what’s going on! Honestly, you just can’t get the staff these days…
17.00
News from the Men Badminton 1sts… we’ve won 2-1!
16.54
Word on the street is that during the Hockey a referee was caught applauding when Lancaster scored! Worrying news for York!
16.30
Both teams’ badminton players are warming up, with play soon to start after the brief interval following the end of the indoor hockey
16.21
Just met some of the players, think the ultimate frisbee team may be in need of a shower.
16.06
16.00
Our editor Paddy has just arrived at the Vision headquarters in Lancaster, and wasted no time in asking where the nearest pub is. Disappointed by the answer, he will soon be heading to the sports centre to help cover the judo.
15.55
Just trying to sort out some more Vision articles, but momentarily the internet stopped working. According to the instructions the best way to sort it out was to look online!
15.53
Apparently Lancaster don’t take defeat too well! One of their men’s hockey players is alleged to have thrown a bottle against the wall in a fit of hysterics after Lancaster were on the end of a 5-3 defeat by York, a match in which York came back from 3-1 down. The player in question is said to have had to be restrained by team mates, but is now calming down. The pressure of Roses looks to be getting to some of the Lancaster lot.
15.43
5-3 York! A final goal seals the win for York’s men’s 1sts in the indoor hockey, silencing the noisy home crowd and bringing York a much-needed four points overall. Hopefully our Roses starts here.
15.40
York still holding on, but with some contentious refereeing decisions having already been made today, the question is for how long can the referee ignore the pressure of a loud Lancaster support? Still 4-3 though…
15.37
Lancaster have just had a goal disallowed, with York’s hockey 1sts remaining defiant , protecting their 4-3 lead like their lives depend upon it
15.34
The Roses comeback starts here! 4-3 York
15.32
3-3! The men’s 1sts are staging a mini-comeback in the indoor hockey, scoring two quick goals to bring the game level. Come on York!
15.30
Miserable weather: it’s grey, cold and wet. But perhaps things are looking up: York have pulled a goal back, but are still trailing 3-2.
15.27
Lancaster have gone two goals ahead and are now leading York’s hockey 1sts 3-1. Things not looking good for York.
15.23
York’s 1sts have equalised in men’s indoor hockey to make it 1-1
15.20

15.15
York’s firsts have just equalised against Lancaster to bring the score in men’s indoor hockey to 1-1
15.08
In what has been a disappointing start for York in this year’s Roses, Lancaster have gone 1-0 up in the men’s hockey 1sts match.
15.03
It’s still 0-0 in the game between the women’s firsts. Lancaster have come close with a shot off the post mind.
14.45
Final Score for the Women’s hockey was 1-1. Controversial decision according to our touchline reporters.
14.35
Other results coming through now, Men’s indoor hockey firsts was a disappointing 2-2 draw. Apparently it was a game that York really should have won.
14.31
York have just have a goal disallowed. Match seems to be going well for us otherwise.
14.23
Half time in women’s hockey firsts. York have been the more dominant but Lancaster hit us on the break. Vision’s pundits are predicting a 3-2 York victory by the end of the second half.
14.21
We’ve only just got the liveblogs working and Vision’s reporters have started talking about going for lunch…
14.18
York were 1-0 up in the women’s hockey firsts following a passionate display by Charlie Bartlett but Lancaster are coming back and the score is now 1-1.
14.16
Hooray! After three hours of running around Lancaster’s Campus and one false start we are finally up and running fully!
11.49
Despite a lack lustre first half performance at the end of which they were 2-0 down, York Indoor Football Ladies are one the way to a comeback having regained composure and one goal. 2-1 latest score.
11.37
After two hours on a coach, and half an hour trekking around Lancaster campus th York Vision team are finally here and ready to go! Bad news already as it appears we have not done very well in the indoor football.
We’re having a few technical problems but should be up and running within the hour. Don’t fear sports fans!

Hey guys, still having technical problems? So are we!

Does anyone know why the York rowing team have “withdrawn”? – That’s 12 points gone straight away!

It was due to BUCS commitments this weekend. Alternatively they could have competed during the Easter holidays, but then the team would be mostly on holiday. According to Emily Scott, its a compromise as we should have lost 20 points!

It was indeed a York student who collapsed. She’s not in hospital though and is getting better. Not good – and *definitely* not the best thing for white rose fans to watch!

I think you’ve taken this out of context. Presumably it was just a joke about how bad York are doing in this tournament. It didn’t seem like anything to get angry about!
I would expect that sort of patronising comment from a message board botherer like Rose but i thought you had more sense Colm.

@ calming influence
I’m glad you think I have the authority to be able to patronise Vision. However I stand by my comment – it may be a joke but it’s a sick one, because the incident could have turned out worse than it did.
