Hockey college cup: preview

This summer marks the start of a new college event. As the football college cup is incredibly popular, the college sport committee decided to run a hockey college cup in the same vein. This will start Saturday of week three with each team playing each of the others in their league, with the top two from each league going into the semi-finals and the final.

The rules differ from the college hockey league, especially in terms if university players. No men’s 1sts, men’s 2nds or women’s 1sts are allowed. The women’s 2nds and men’s 3rds are determined by how many BUCS games they have played and only one of each team is allowed on the pitch at any point.

Matches will be played on a 1/3 of the pitch with six players in each team, with a maximum of four men. The schedule for matches is below. The hockey league is always entertaining and competitive and with the Halifax/James rivalry given a new platform this could be even more exciting!
