York Hospital Told To Prepare For Third COVID-19 Wave

The hospital has more than 7,000 beds in total.

York Hospital has been told to prepare for a third wave of coronavirus cases in mid January.

York Press’ Local Democracy reporter Chloe Laversuch tweeted: “York Hospital has been asked to plan for a third wave of coronavirus – expected to be in mid January”.

Laversuch added that the second wave has been a “very challenging time” for staff.

The warning for York Hospital comes despite the fact the number of COVID patients in hospital has been decreasing.

According to York Open Data, as of 2 December there were 38 confirmed COVID-19 patients in York Hospital, six in the intensive care unit.

As of 9 December, there are ten individuals at the University of York currently self-isolating with the virus.
