Power outage strikes Campus West

The power problem affecting the Library, Hull Road traffic lights and buildings on Campus West has now been solved.

A power outage affected buildings on Campus West this afternoon (October 27). Power has since been restored.

Alcuin College, the Library, Chemistry, Donald Barron Court, Barbara Scott Court, the National Science Learning Centre, and Biology North buildings were all without power for over an hour.

The University of York Twitter account tweeted: “Power outage update: A specialist team has arrived on site and is investigating” during the outage.

The same account tweeted that power had been restored at around 3:25pm.

University of York Estates teams are now going to accommodation blocks to reset boiler panels which were affected by the outage.

This was part of a wider power outage which is affecting parts of York including the student residential areas of Lawrence Street and Hull Road with the traffic lights at the bottom of Green Dykes Lane going off as a result.

Campus East was unaffected by the power outage.
