As a long time skincare junkie, I have spent a sizeable portion of my student loan trialling different cleansers.
From the classics, such as the Liz Earl Cleanse and Polish, to K-beauty holy grails such as the Banila Clean It Zero cleansing balm, the beauty industry has a lot to offer. But as a student managing a tight budget, it can be difficult to justify luxury skincare purchases. Thankfully, there are lots of excellent products on the market which boast both a low price tag and an excellent ingredient list. Boots also offer 10% student discount!
CeraVe is a brilliant choice when it comes to decoding which brand to purchase from. They don’t use fragrance, which can cause painful breakouts and irritation, and have multiple different everyday cleansers for different problem areas.
CeraVe SA Smoothing Cleanser– £12.50

Of all of the CeraVe cleansers that I have tried, this one is my favourite. Salicylic acid is a chemical exfoliant, meaning that it gently removes dead skin cells, leaving your skin soft and smooth.
CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser– £10

For dry or combination skin, this cleanser is brilliant. It contains hyaluronic acid, which helps to retain moisture in the skin.
Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser– £9.99

Cetaphil is perfect if you’re looking for a very simple ingredient list with you can guarantee will not cause any irritation on sensitive skin. It’s a product that I know I can always come back to after a bad reaction to more expensive products containing fragrance.
Simple Moisturising Face Wash– £1.72

This was actually the first cleanser that I ever purchased, and is also the one that I recommend to people the most. This product has the lowest price tag, a very simple ingredient list, and no fragrance. A win all round.
La Roche Posay Toleriane Cleanser– £13
200ml- Boots
Finally, the La Roche Posay Toleraine cleanser is an excellent choice for sensitive or allergy prone skin in need of a bit of TLC. Formulated with glycerine, this cleanser is gentle yet effective, leaving your skin soft and supple.
