Your Shop has adopted a Waitrose style charity token scheme. After purchasing a meal deal, students have the opportunity to vote for one of the three charities chosen by the RAG Committee in the plastic boxes by the till.
Winter Wonderland, RAG Week and Woodstock have been selected out of over 80 charities who applied to appear on the boxes.
RAG commented: “We’re really excited about the new initiative. The selection of charities has worked alongside the new RAG beneficiary system, enabling us to support a wider range of charities.”
The scheme has been approved by the college JCRs and YUSU committees.
Kallum Taylor commented: “This is a really positive thing for us to do in Your Shop, and has already drawn up a lot of interest just today! We hope it’ll further raise awareness of the causes which YUSU RAG support, and change the nature of how our members see shopping in there… There’s an added element to simply buying and walking out.”
