The Christmas Edit: 09/12/2012

Getting into the party season is any fashion-savvy student’s nightmare; sales haven’t started yet, and you don’t want to be spotted wearing last year’s dress. Everything in your wardrobe is too small/big/short/long/old and makes you look frumpy/slutty/fat/thin, and you’re honestly contemplating turning up in a paper bag (or not at all).

I’ve been scouring York once again for the best Yuletide purchases; these would double up as great ‘early gifts’ from mum and dad, they’re all effortlessly stylish, and you can get away with wearing them at both W10 parties and the dreaded Christmas family bash.

(clockwise from left): The Keynsham Dress (£89.50, jackwills.com), Hermes Twilly (£95, Hermes), Lulu Guinness Clutch (£95, ASOS), Earrings (£2,700, Tiffany & Co.), Fur Capelet (various), Diplo Courts (£49, Dune), Star Gazer Ring (£12.50, Topshop)

As for you gentlemen, it’s all about looking like you wake up every morning looking like Eddie Redmayne. Stick to clean-cut, well-cut shapes and ruffle them up a little bit for added edge: show up with major bed-head, roll your sleeves up when your blazer comes off, and don’t forget to leave your bow-tie hanging off your collar when your shirt comes unbuttoned later on.

Moleskin Chinos (£69, REISS), Durleston Velvet Bow-Tie (£24, aubinandwills.com), Ranger V-Neck Tee (£30, All Saints), The Sheffield Watch ($229, danielwellington.com), Cobbald Nevis Shirt (£59.50 jackwills.com), Salisbury Suit Jacket (£229, A&W)

Winter Pimms, anybody?
