York Vision has been nominated four times at this year’s Guardian Student Media Awards.

The newspaper is shortlisted for Publication of the Year along with entrants from Kingston, Manchester and Oxford universities It is the sixth time in nine years that Vision has been nominated for the top accolade, of which it has won four times, more than any other campus paper.

Vision beat publications from Oxford and Cambridge as well as last years winner The Leeds Student, to become the most nominated entrant in the competition.

Ex-editors Martin Williams and Jim Norton have both been nominated for Reporter and Writer of the Year respectively; both for the second year in a row. News Editor Daniel Goddard is also nominated for Reporter of the Year for an investigation into the Vice-Chancellor’s expenses, which also made national news featuring on the BBC and Private Eye.

Vision Editors Paddy Harte and Tom McDermott commented: “These nominations are a signal of our continued commitment to producing interesting and original student journalism. We are immensely proud of our team and can’t wait for the results in November.”

The winners of the award will be announced at an award ceremony in Central London on Wednesday 24 November. High profile judges include Channel 4 presenter Jon Snow and Guardian editor Alan Rusbridger.
