Former student publishes book on campus waterfowl

A GRADUATE has penned a book about the birds on campus.

Jane Paffey, a former student in the Department of Sociology and Education, wrote a book about the life of the university’s Blueberry and the rest of the snow goose flock.

The book is available to buy at YPDBooks.com at a cost of £10 plus £2.75 p&p.

Jane said she is hoping to donate the proceeds from the initial print run to the local charity, York Against Cancer.

“The snow geese have always been my favourites, and Blueberry especially,” she told York Vision.

“In 2012 I was diagnosed with breast cancer and this prompted me to begin to write up some of the notes I had kept over the years about Blueberry and her flock.

“Writing the Blueberry book gave me something positive to focus on during my illness and as I continue to recover from the effects of treatment.”

The website blueberry-goose.co.uk contains more information on the swans and campus geese. It also contains images and videos of the wildlife.
