The college associated with the sporting elite have found it surprisingly hard to get out a regular starting XV. Success in last summer’s VIIs tournament should have helped promote the sport in their college.

As the current college XVs and Xs champions, Derwent are the ones to beat. But many of the crop are moving into their final year so they’ll be looking to bleed-in youth to continue their success and dominance.

They have the ability to play a mercurial style of rugby, which took them painfully close to lifting the College Xs trophy, before Derwent snatched victory from their clutches. But this side has a tendency to switch off and subsequently get hammered.

The yellows have not been written into this term’s fixture list yet, but there is enough interest to form a team. They will certainly benefit from the move to Heslington East, which is planned for 2012, as it coincides with the relocation of the College Rugby fixtures to the new campus too.
