I tried to write an entry about my week, it just came out like this –

[Basic guitar and drums – 8 bars. Second guitar layer, second drum layer introduced – 8 more bars] They’ll be making sure you stay amused|they’ll fill you up with drugs and booze|maybe you’ll make the evening news [1 bar break] And when you’re tripping over your dreams|they’ll keep you down by any means|by the end of the night you’ll be stifling your screams [1 bar break. Another drum layer] And since you became a V.I.-person|it’s like your problems have all worsened|your paranoia casts aspersions|on the truths you know [half bar break] And they’ll just put you in the spotlight|and hope that you’ll do alright|or maybe not [1 bar break. Beat change] Now why d’you wanna to go and put stars in their eyes? [break] Why d’you wanna to go and put stars in their eyes? [break] So why d’you wanna to go and put stars in their eyes? [break] Now why d’you wanna go and put stars in their eyes? [half-bar break] stars in their eyes [beat change] Remember you said you’d show them all|emphasise the rise, but not the fall|and now you’re playing a shopping mall [break] Your mum and dad, they can’t believe|what you appear to have achieved|while the rest of these users are just laughing in their sleeves [break] And since you became a V.I.-person|it’s like your problems have all worsened|your paranoia casts aspersions|on the truths you know [half bar break] Now the tabloids use your face|to document your fall from grace|then they tell you that it’s just the way it goes|just the way it goes [half-bar break] [beat change, no drums] Now why d’you wanna go and put stars in their eyes|it’s the same old story, they just didn’t realise|and it’s a long way to come from the Dog and Duck karaoke machine|and Saturday night’s drunken dreams|now why d’you wanna go and put stars in their eyes|it’s the same old story, they just didn’t realise|and it’s a long way to come from your private bedroom dance routines|and Saturday night’s drunken dreams [Beat change] Now why d’you wanna go and put stars in their eyes? [break] Why d’you wanna go and put stars in their eyes? [break] So why d’you wanna go and put stars in their eyes? [break] Now why d’you wanna go and put stars in their eyes? [half-bar break] stars in their eyes|now why d’you wanna go and put stars in their eyes|it’s the same old story, they just didn’t realise|and it’s a long way to come from the Dog and Duck karaoke machine|and Saturday night’s drunken dreams [beat fades] (Child’s voice) When I grow up I’m gon’ be famous [beat returns. Just drums] Behind the steel barrier, the sequins and glitter|five-inch heels still knee-deep in the litter|each of them a bitter bullshitter|wrapped up in the cloak of fake glamour, lost in the clamour|footprints of fools’ gold|_____________ worn-off plimsolls|no time for these one-off arseholes|rigour mortis Ken and Barbie dolls [guitar squeal] a pair of big shades and a push-up bra|there’s such a short gap between the gutter and the stars|you’ve come a long way from the place that you started|so why d’you wanna go and get so downhearted? [guitar squeal] welcome to the kingdom of the blagger|uncut in your nose-key, coke in the bladder|a whole lot happier and a whole lot sadder|couldn’t be satisfied now you feel like Mick Jagger [echoes. Then, beat change. Basic guitar and drums – 8 bars. Second guitar layer, second drum layer introduced – 8 more bars] Now why d’you wanna go and put stars in their eyes|it’s the same old story, they just didn’t realise|and it’s a long way to come from the Dog and Duck karaoke machine|and Saturday night’s drunken dreams|now why d’you wanna go and put stars in their eyes|it’s the same old story, they just didn’t realise|and it’s a long way to come from your private bedroom dance routines|and Saturday night’s drunken dreams [beat fades]

I wish I’d had to listen to the song while writing this. (Never quite mastered the rap, bit annoying)

Proper blog tomorrow. Thanks, all. It’s been a pleasure
