It’s official: Lady Gaga is coming to the University

No, not that Gaga – a crested duck called Lady Gaga!

Alcuin College today unveiled its list of animals that will descend on campus on the 8 May as part of its ‘zoo’ initiative to relieve exam stress.

A giant rabbit, guinea pigs, chicks, hens and a crested duck – named like pop princess Lady Gaga – will be hitting the University college’s JCR from the revised time of 11am.

Nuzzlets, a small charity which has been accredited by the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA), will be providing the animals.

Organiser Helen Cox said on Facebook: “We have an animal list! They’re [Nuzzlets] bringing a lamb, two baby goats, some rabbits, a GIANT RABBIT, some guinea pigs, some chicks, two polish hens and a crested duck called Lady Gaga.”

Earlier this week, Halifax College launched its plan to open a puppy lounge over the exam period, which begins week 5, to ‘de-stress’ students.

And sources from Vanbrugh College say they too have an exciting idea lined up, but have refused to reveal what that is.

Michael Duncan, the college chair, said: “Just wait until you see what Vanbrugh College has got coming for you this exam season…”

  1. I should point out that most of this was organised by Natalie Kopytko, I was just helping and doing the event page stuff

  2. This is a ridiculously imaginative way of wasting money, not only for the university, but colleges and students. I mean, ducks, do we not have enough waterfowl on campus already. Get a grip.

  3. @Farm*: Nuzzlets has worked with our university in the past (most recently, they were at a family event on April 28th). These types of charities are actually very inexpensive and are well-received by the students to make them worth the minor donation costs.
