It has now been confirmed that Lancaster are the 2024 winners of Roses. On Saturday night, shortly before midnight, Lancaster recieved the necessary 172.5 points to beat the necessary point threshold. With this news York have now lost Roses for the third year in a row. The win was reached after a streak of wins for Lancaster in the Volleyball Women’s 1sts and the Netball Women’s 1st, before a late night Lancaster win in Darts gave the university the final points needed to cross the threshold on Roses Live.

Despite York’s hopes, it was an almost inevitable result, with away wins a particularly rare occurence. That said, York didn’t go down without a fight. There were many notable four-point successes for York on Saturday, which you can read about in our Roses Round Up or in print this week.

But with Lancaster reaching the necessary 172.5 thresholdon Saturday night, it would be impossible to catch up on in the Sunday fixtures. That said the action will continue – with coverage on Instagram, Twitter and online at https://roseslive.co.uk/live – to see if York can close the gap and lessen their defeat at all on Sunday.
