Will your design make the #Roses2015 Snapchat geofilter?

Viral

Students are calling on Snapchat to create a special geofilter for the upcoming weekend-long Roses event.

The photo-sharing app introduced the geofilters feature in July last year.

The feature allows users to add special overlays over their pictures that can only be accessed in certain areas.

York’s American Football Club President and Captain, Jack Coppack tweeted Snapchat directly asking for a special geotag for Europe’s largest inter-university sporting competition.

York Sport President Cass Brown tweeted back saying: “Absolutely! White roses would look so pretty in a geotag, right @Snapchat?”

You don’t have to work for Snapchat in their California offices to design filters however.

In December last year the West-Coast startup unveiled their Community Geofilters initiative, which sees budding artists design their own overlays.

Designs can be submitted here[LINK] and are subject to moderation by the Snapchat team.

The app could also feature Roses as part of its ‘Our Story’ feature, which has previously seen users contribute photos and videos from events including Coachella festival and the Quidditch World Cup.

Snapchat have not yet responded to enquiry from Vision.

You can share your thoughts with Snapchat by tweeting their handle @Snapchat and using the hashtag #Roses2015.
