FLAWES To Perform On Campus On 18th October

On Wednesday 18th October, FLAWES are set to bring their poised, whole-hearted take on alt-pop to the University of York. Fresh from the release of new singles ‘Blank Dice’ and ‘Forever’ as well as a tour of Europe supporting indie heavyweights Maximo Park.

Having signed a deal with Red Bull Records last year, FLAWES are looking to take the next step on the march to music success. Judging by their recent releases, they seem well equipped to do so, mixing melancholy and heartfelt synths with choruses so large that they rival inter-college chants halfway through a night out. ‘Ocean Eyes’ has a tender, tentative feel to it vocally with the synths oozing positivity, creating a perfect balance between the reflection and attention required of a listener.

The London trio aren’t short of spotlight or pedigree either, having performed at numerous festivals in the first half of 2017 such as Live at Leeds, The Great Escape and BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekend. Their early career also saw them enter at #8 on the Spotify UK Viral Chart with their self-released debut single ‘Don’t Wait For Me’ which saw significant air time on Radio 1.

What is striking about FLAWES is how adept they appear to be at mixing synths and searing vocals with stripped-back dance vibes that give off shades of Glass Animals and Clean Cut Kid, producing the type of music that fits any mood at any time with such a varied sound.

This gig is unplugged as part of FLAWES’ series of concerts across a number of UK universities will add even more of an intimate feel to a band that produce pensive, striking lyrics.

You can see this exciting new alt-pop acts here at the University of York in Courtyard Bar at 17:00 this Wednesday.
