York Men’s Hockey 2nds demolish Lancaster

THE YORK Men’s Hockey 2nds eased past a lethargic Lancaster side with a 12-0 win on Saturday afternoon at the Richard Larkin Astro.

Though the White Rose dominated the game with their excellent passing and movement, the opposition were clearly not up to standards and were always set for a thumping.

The hosts were given the freedom to attack at will, with a startling difference in fitness levels becoming more apparent as the match progressed. They were four up at half time, the pick of the goals being a wonderful volleyed effort from Andrew Watters which flew into the top corner of the net.

York turned on the style in the second half, with Andrew Watters outrageously nutmegging the Lancaster ‘keeper from close range and Matt Guy completing an impressive hat-trick by firing in from a tight corner.

Timothy Silcock then marauded down the left wing and finished off his own move to take the score into double figures. Silcock and Watters later combined to stroll past the Red Rose defence, before the latter eased it past a sorry Lancaster ‘keeper to complete the rout.
