University of York Boat Club
As part of the launch, here at Vision we’ve opened up our Sport pages to the clubs themselves. First up are Boat club!
Here is YorkVision.co.uk’s first Sports article written by the club themselves. Oh, and did we mention, like almost all York Sport clubs – the Boat Club is recruiting new members! All the clubs will be at the Freshers Fair, Saturday week 1 from 10 till 4.
University of York Boat Club are one of the largest clubs on campus and if you want to be a part of the fun, read on!
Have you ever fancied learning to row? Or did you row in school and wish to take it up again? We are interested in people of all abilities and strengths – the only thing we require is a good attitude. You can have fun as a social member and a social rower or you can compete for places in the top boats that race at events such as Henley Royal Regatta.
We are currently giving our boat house a spring (or autumn) clean so anyone new can enjoy a shiney new boat house with newly painted blades!
Every time we hold an event, such as our annual summer ball, an occasion not to be missed – for old and new blades – or the summer BBQ, or take part in a race, we will give a press release to update the University on our achievements and hopefully gain some support so keep your eye’s peeled over the coming months!
Last year was an extremely successful year for the boat club, with wins at Trafford, Doncaster, York Summer and 2 women’s boats qualifying for Henley. If you want to help us improve on this then come and see us at fresher’s fair, in the sports tent and in D/056 on monday, week 2 at 6.30.
