Gyros

This Sunday, a few of us in my Flat decided to go to town. One person in my Flat happens to be Greek and has been trying to get us to have some Gyros for ages.

So, this time we did.

We went to the market place in the shambles, where next a place where someone is selling large posters on the streets.

Ahead was a stand.

It was decorated with light wood and fake grass, which surprising gave it a summery feel, even though it dead cold outside.

There are 3 benches outside which can fit about 6 people each and on a good day would be in the sun.

However, on a cold windy day, there is little protection, so you may get a tad cold.

Now let’s move on to the food.

Gyros is a Greek dish, made in a pita-like bread, pork (like a pork kebab), tomatoes, French fries, onion and a slightly spicy tomato sauce with a cucumber and yoghurt sauce.

The Gyros was warm which was great as the day was cold. The pork was a bit chewy but tasty and the French fries and onions gave a crunch to it, improving the texture a lot.

The sauces were complementary, but I wish I had more tomato sauce, as all the sauces tended to sink to the bottom, meaning that, rather than having the sauce on the meat as you wanted, it was stuck in bread at the bottom.

Lastly, I wish I had just a bit more to eat.

The pork gyros I had cost £5 as did the vegetarian one, which I was told by one of my friends was just as good.

If I had to rate the experience it was a good 6/10.

As it is well priced, tasty and the people were friendly.
