What is Facebook Connect?
Facebook connect allows you to login to the York Vision website using your Facebook login details. No need to remember another username and password. Your profile picture, email and a link to your Facebook page is automatically linked to York Vision too.

How do I log in to Facebook Connect?
There are two blue “Facebook Connect” buttons on this page. One at the top and one at the very bottom of the page. Alternatively, where ever there is a comments form, a button appears there too. If you’ve already logged in once before, and you’re logged into Facebook you will automatically be logged in.

How do I know who I’m logged in as?
On the right hand side is a picture of the logged in person and their name. If there is no one there, you are not logged in.

What if I don’t want to use Facebook Connect, or don’t have a Facebook account?
If you don’t have a Facebook account, sign up for one at Facebook.com. Alternatively, you can login to the York Vision website using this link instead: York Vision Login

What Facebook information is shared with York Vision?
When you agree to share information with York Vision, we will be able to see at most your name, a link to your profile, a link to your email address and your profile picture. All of these will update if you change them on Facebook, and are only displayed in respect to your Facebook privacy settings.
For example, if your profile is restricted to “Friends Only” your name will be displayed as “Facebook User”, there will be no link to Facebook, your email will not show and your profile picture will be blank. If a friend logs into York Vision through Facebook, they will be able to see this information.
We cannot see your email address (neither can anyone else). Instead we see a Facebook email which can be used to contact you. (See question below).

Why do I have a really strange email ending in ‘@proxymail.facebook.com’?
To prevent showing your real email address, Facebook shows a proxy email address. This allows people to email you without seeing your real email address. You are more than welcome to change this (using the Your Profile link) but beware that your email will be shown on all comments you make, and therefore to anyone who wants to see it.

How can I change what Facebook information is shown on York Vision?
Visit this link: Your Profile. You may change your first name, last name, nickname, email and how your name is displayed. To change your profile picture you need to change your Facebook profile picture.

Why do I have a strange username, like fb222302669?
This is the username that links Facebook to York Vision. You don’t need to remember this, and you cannot change this.

Can you see or change my Facebook password and profile?
No. We are not able to view or change anything about your Facebook profile. We will only be able to view your profile if your privacy settings allow us, just like anyone else on Facebook.com. We definitely cannot see your password.

How do I stop sharing information with York Vision?
You can use the Application Settings link from your Facebook profile to block the application. You can click here too.
